How much do you spend on your pet per year?
According to Shapiro, Tika was recently diagnosed with two tumors in her liver. “It was hard to believe, because you were still so full of life, still jumping up, running, doing everything as usual,” he wrote. “But it was determined that those tumors would quickly grow and take a toll on your tiny body, so we followed the advice of all of your amazing vets and went ahead with surgery to remove them.”
While the surgery was initially successful, and the recovery seemed to be going smoothly at first, on the second night Tika seemed to lose her usual zest and energy.
“You looked so tired, not quite yourself, yet peaceful,” wrote Shapiro. “At first, the vets believed it was the effect of the pain killers, but we soon found out that it was your body that was slowly giving up, and we were told that there wasn’t anything we could have done that day to prevent it from happening. It is sadly a risk that comes with surgery on senior dogs.”
Louis also posted a videoopens in new tab where he addressed Tika directly and recounts his journey with her from the very beginning, when as a university student he adopted the little Italian greyhound puppy and took her home.

And here we are, from a lost boy to a happily married father of two beautiful kids. And I owe it all to you.”
